 Droṇa Parva Introduction

 

After the death of Bhishma, as the Commander-in-Chief of the army of Kauravas for 10 days,   Droṇa was made as the Commander-in-Chief of the army of Kauravas.   Droṇa led the army for 5 days and on the 5th day, he gave up his life, by sitting in meditation.

The following were the important events that took place during the leadership of  Droṇa.

  • Death of Bhagadatta, a great warrior from Kauravas side
  • Death of  Abhimanyu, the son of Arjuna and a great warrior from Pandavas side
  • Death of Jayadratha, the brother-in-law of Duryodhana
  • Defeat of Karna in the hands of Bhimasena
  • Death of Ghatotkacha, the demon son of Bhimasena
  • Death of Drona
